Customer Review: fun for the whole family

We purchased our Progressive International Safety I-Can Opener during our vacation to Long Beach Island and got it out that same day to crack open a large can of Tuttorosso's Italian Style Peeled Plum Shaped Tomatoes (with natural basil flavor) to go with our pasta dinner.
Having shelled out [...] bucks for the opener, my parents were clearly ready to be amazed by the convenience and ease of this wonder of science and technology, but alas, turn by turn, we watched all our dreams turn to regret. My dad, my brother, my mom, and I attempted to open the can, but no matter how we rigged the opener, or how many times we ran it round the can, the thing wouldn't open.
Soon, mom and dad were discussing bringing the opener back to the store, along with the can of tomatoes, to demand that they open it up, or give us a refund. I suggested that store clerks might not know the particulars of can opening, and after further discussion, we agreed that we would bring them the opener, but it should be up to them to supply test cans.
As we continued on, I asked my parents whether they had checked the label when they bought the opener. Maybe we had unknowingly bought a well engineered, can assisted hand exercise machine? Maybe it was a hand cranked power generator, we considered. Maybe after a few minutes I could plug my iPhone into the can of tomatoes and charge it up.
My brother, the primary consumer of Tuttorosso's tomatoes in our household, and in general perennially hungry, was mostly keenly aware of the urgency of the moment, and least swayed by the scientific import of our trials, brought out our 2 dollar stone age Ikea can opener and, crude though it is, it promptly opened the can.
Not to be defeated, efforts continued on a can of Trader Joe's Cannellini White Kidney Beans, while my dad entertained us with a detailed comparative analysis of the mechanical attributes of the Ikea opener versus the Progressive opener.
Finally, my sister, who is a raw vegan, and has no use for canned foods or can openers, stopped by and tried her hand at it, and after fiddling with it for a couple minutes, the can was open. My mom quickly cited this as validation of her genius, talent, and college diploma.
It turned out that the opener cuts a groove into but not through the can surface, so it's not really visible, and you have to use the teeth on the side of the opener to complete the process. Anyway, we were too preoccupied to be concerned with such details.
Throughout, my mom wove in and out of a laughing fit, and everyone took photos to document progress. I'm pretty sure we have a family photo with the opener and the can of beans.
Who knew a can opener could be so much fun? Thanks Progressive! We can't wait to try your Folding Mandoline Slicer, Fruit and Vegetable Chopper, and *especially* your Lettuce Keeper!
We also look forward for the chance to try your opener overseas, to see if it really is international.
