Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Progressive International Microwaveable Rice/Pasta Cooker SetCustomer Review: Microwave rice cooker Summary: 5 StarsBest microwave cooker for the money. Works perfectly evry time and is easy to use.
Customer Review: Works OK, but bigger than I expected Summary: 4 StarsI was looking for a microwave rice cooker for my daughter to take away to college. I know someone who owns the same brand, but a much smaller version. This turned out to be a 12 cup rice cooker, although they don't tell you anywhere how big it is. It's great if you're trying to make larger amounts, but maybe not so practical for keeping in the dorm. Makes good sticky rice for those who prefer. My microwave is lower wattage, so cooked on full power at maximum cooking time and rice came out just as good as from a regular rice cooker.
Customer Review: Progressive International Microwaveable Rice/Pasta Cooker Set Summary: 5 StarsThis is my second purchase of this product. I bought one over a year ago and it is absolutely wonderful. It makes perfect rice every time and is easy to use and keep clean. I bought the second one for my daughter who is in college and moving into an apartment.
Customer Review: Roasted Rice Summary: 4 StarsPros:
Does not leak water as it is cooking the rice from what I found.
Cons:
Only used once so far. It cooked the rice on the bottom of the basket but non of the rice above that so i ended up having to throw the rice away. The shelf that is supposed to be used for steaming vegetables warped slightly.
Not sure if I'm doing it right yet. Need to try one or two more times to see if I can get the rice to cook throughout.
Customer Review: Best kitchen gadget ever! Summary: 5 StarsI love this thing and have used one or more for the past 12 years. I have 4!!
The secret to great rice is enough water but not too much water.
1 cup of rice
then cover with enough water so that when you stick your finger into the water and touch the rice, the water is only up to your first knuckle.
Place in 1200 watt micro for 13 minutes. When timer goes off remove and allow to stand...it's still steaming) For about 5 mins... then open and fluff with fork.
This will make about 3 cups of rice.
FORGET Microwave PASTA... Microwaved pasta doesn't work because pasta NEEDS to move in the water in order to keep it from sticking!
However... steam veggies of all kinds! Steam fish, shrimp, shellfish... (I save one just for this purpose) Chicken too.
Try steaming cut up potatoes in broth with some garlic added then mash for a tasty treat.
