I purchased a set of four of these plates in June of '08 after my husband continually complained about how hot the "microwave safe" dinnerware would get in the microwave. I was used to the fact so thought it would be something just for him to use.
However, we all scramble looking for them when we need to use the microwave. My kids will not use the microwave without one and I find I look for them first as well. I am finally going to purchase 2 more sets because they have become essential.
Pros: Not nearly as hot as regular plates
Heating is more even than the cold spots you get with other dishes
Cons: They do stain (but, so what you don't serve guests with them)
They do scratch (again, no big deal they are not costly to replace.)
Overall, well worth the few bucks
