Customer Review: Beats the "restaurant" presses with ease

I turned to this after trying the Adjustable Aluminum Hamburger Press made by American Metalcraft (and previously reviewed here on Amazon). I purchased the aluminum press at the local restaurant supply and quickly grew frustrated with its poor design.
The Progressive International Perfect Burger Press had several advantages over that standard aluminum press. The burger meat sticks far less than it does to aluminum. It is easier to use, allowing you to turn out more burgers per unit time. It has a dimple to keep your burger from tenting while on the griddle. The size of the burgers turned out is a quarter inch larger in diameter (4 5/8ths inches total) than the aluminum one--closer to common bun sizes--and the form is deeper, which permits slightly thicker burgers as well. I am now averaging eight burgers per two-pound batch instead of eleven since I am making them a bit thicker than before. Adjusting thickness means just adding or subtracting some meat, then pressing again, and I found that I could easily adjust the size of burgers that I had already made.
I was concerned before purchasing that this press, being made of plastic, might not last. But the plastic is thick and looks and feels quite durable. I would even try it in a restaurant if I owned one (many of our cooking tools are restaurant grade). The paddle allows one to flip the formed burger onto a patty sheet with ease. We put patty sheets on both sides, freeze them first on cookie sheets so they don't mash, then stack 'em up in a bag for final storage.
Since purchasing this press on Amazon I have now seen it in a couple of local stores. So you may be able to purchase it there if it is out of stock here. Prices were about the same everywhere I saw it.
Kudos to Progressive for designing a better burger press. If you want to make better burgers, for diet or for flavor, this is a great inexpensive tool that can help.
