Bought this bread keeper as I was tired of using plastic bags that didn't fit over my homemade bread. Keeps the bread fresher than the bags did and my kids can even cut their own bread now thanks to the "slicer guide" that comes with it. Great product!Customer Review: convenient, practical

I've owned 3 breadkeeper slicing guides over the last 12 years or so. I make 1 - 2 loaves per week, and after about 4 years the first tine wears out and breaks, and I get another one. If you put the slicing guide's rounded end into the smaller (inner) half of the breadkeeper, it will fit right side up. Then slide the larger (outer) half over the flat end of the slicing guide. Then you can pull the keeper apart, with the bread in position to cut the slices you need. We never find plastic in our bread; after hearing about the sawdust resulting from the wooden guide I'm thankful for this one. The keeper compacts smaller as your loaf is used up, taking up less storage space and keeping a relative close fit to the loaf. The tines are plastic, and it does take some coordination to hold the bread in place without pulling the tines too hard. My 12 year old son is barely able to handle the job. And I don't know what kind of knife will slice the tines, but my serrated 10" Chicago Cutlery bread knife slices the bread without bothering the tines. I love this practical product enough to keep replacing it, and I hope they continue to make it for decades to come.Customer Review: Progressive Internationalclearly fresh bread keeper

The bread keeper does help slice bread evenly, but it is rather flimsy and if not careful it may break easily while holding the bread with your free hand when slicing. The part that is flimsly are the tynes(slicing separaters). Customer Review: Very Good Product

Finally - This is the 3rd bread slicer that I have purchased and have finally found the best one yet !!
It is nice to not only be able to slice freshly baked bread, but to be able to store it as well.
I would recommend this item to all who consider buying it.
